Where do I find the Serial Number and Registration information?

You need to register your meter. Simply go to http://www.trimaxmeters.com/registration.html
Remove the meter from the case and you will see a 12 digit number on the back Enter the appropriate info on the site and submit. Now your product is registered. Registration helps Trimax factory service team work with you. Now turn on the meter the meter the first time you turn it on it will ask again for the 12 digit number Enter the number.

After I receive my Trimax SM2200 how long to I need to charge the batteries?

A full 5 hours.

Where do I find a satellite list?

A Satellite lists can be found at http://www.trimaxmeters.com/downloads.html . For many users especially hobbyists these lists are complete. Which will make start up easy for many users. We advise Atlantic and European customers to use the lists for their area.

Note: Always power meter with provided power supply when upgrading software. Keep your meter plugged in until the upgrade is completed and the meter has rebooted.

How do I build a transponder list?

Select a known strong and weak transponder on the satellite you are programming. A list found on Lyngsat or SATCODX is helpful.

What software do I use to build a transponder list for my area??

The new V1.2 software makes it easy to make a list. This tool can download and save a list from your meter, modify the list, upload it back to your meter.  Make your own custom list!!

Does the Trimax SM2200 tell me which satellite I am on?

The new V1.0.4 software has added added NIT function - The NIT function can identify the various TV-satellites by reading out the NIT in the Bitstream (NIT = Network Information Table). The NIT also contains info about the transponders TV and Radio-channels.
You will be able to see what satellite you are on. This is especially important with Nimiq and Echostar satellites that use the same transponder frequencies on satellites that are about 9 degrees apart.

Do I set up and scan the Trimax like any consumer FTA Receiver?

Yes!! Set the LNB Type,Freq,switch settings just like any FTA receiver. That's why the Trimax is easy because set up is like an FTA Receiver.
Scan after your basic adjustments on strongest/weakest transponder. All channels will come up just like an FTA receiver. You can check each one for strength and quality while viewing the picture.

Can I do C-Band?

Yes set you LNB freq to 5150.

What about DCII used for 4DTV and Star Choice?

DCII is a propriety format of Motorola Corp and is not detected by the Trimax SM2200.

What about Bell XpressVu and Dish Net?

Bell and Dish Net satellites can be found.

Does the Trimax SM2200 detect MPEG 4 signals?

Yes..You will get a signal bar indicating strength and quality however you will not see a picture when you scan.

The fonts on the Trimax 2200 are very small.What can I do?

Download the new V1.0.4 software.The fonts are larger.It is our goal at Trimax to make all our products user friendly and larger fonts will help many of our customers.

My screen has scratches and bubbles on it..What's Wrong?

Each meter is shipped from the factory with a protective film . Please peel it off. The plastic used on the screen is designed to be tuff and scratch resistant.

I have a hard time seeing the screen in the sunlight?

Use the meter in the case. The meter hood with Velcro strips can be adjusted to compensate for sunlight.

Can my meter be damaged if it becomes wet?

Yes..Using the case can protect the meter in light rain . Always remember that water can lead to the unit shorting out.
Above all consider your personal safety when working in the rain. Working during a rainstorm can lead to being struck by lightening.

I have long drive times between jobs. Can I use the car lighter charger attachment to charge the meter?

Yes that's why Trimax has included this accessory . Remember the battery has a 4 hour use cycle. Because you are able to do jobs faster your meter will be used less. Depending on your work load you may find one charge per day is enough and this may be at the end of the day overnight.

What is the procedure for downloading new software ?

Caution: Always power meter with provided power supply when upgrading software. Keep your meter plugged in and powered until the upgrade is completed and the meter has rebooted and is showing the menu. Failure to follow these instructions can cause damage to your meter. ***This process takes from 3 to 6 minutes.*** ***DO NOT POWER DOWN YOUR METER UNTIL THE MENU APPEARS ON THE SCREEN.***

What occurs inside the unit during an upgrade?

When loading the OS to flash, it first loads to memory, then dumps the flash to make room, and then loads the new OS to flash. The problem comes in when it's disconnected after the flash dump and before it can reload. ALL the commands are in the OS, so if it's interrupted, the PC can no longer connect because there are no commands on the meter.

When installing a motorized dish using an SG2100 motor can I use the Trimax SM2200 to power the motor unit?

Yes you can. Remember that running the motor will drain the battery at a very high rate.

What is the warranty?
